Why the Sky Is Blue/James Jeans

At the beginning, the writer used the analogy to explain a natural phenomenon, which is the bluish color of sky.  The simplest explanation for this phenomenon is that sun consists of lights, and lights are nothing but waves. When a wave impinges on any solid obstacle, it scatters; however, this process differs from a wave to another. This is due to the difference in length between waves; for example, red light is known for its long waves, unlike the blue light, which is known for its short waves. Red light is hardly affected by the obstacles in the atmosphere such as particles of dust and droplets of water; on the other hand, blue light scatters easily when it strikes against any of these particles. As a result, the blue light enter our eyes from all the directions, this is why the sky is blue.
